This article examines the broker's behavior with regard to a varying number of participating nodes and shows that incremental losses have to be accepted in central resource allocation when introducing new nodes. --Grid Computing

The BabelNEG System - A prototype Infrastructure for protocol-generic SLA Negotiations

    Get PDF
Visions of the next-generation Internet of Services are drivenby digital resources traded on a global scope. For the resultingeconomic setting, automated on-line techniques forhandling services and resources themselves, for advertisingand discovering as well as for the on-the-y negotiation ofproper terms for their use are needed. Hence, a exible infrastructurefor the respective management of services andassociated service level agreements is mandatory. In this paper we present a novel approach for such an infrastructure, building on software-agent technology and anexpressive but still machine manageable protocol descriptionlanguage, capable of specifying a multitude of dierentnegotiation protocols. It supports the discovery of serviceswith appropriate SLA negotiation styles as well as the actualSLA negotiations based on the chosen protocol descriptiondocuments

Socio-Economic Mechanisms to Coordinate the Internet of Services: The Simulation Environment SimIS

    Get PDF
Visions of 21st century information systems show highly specialized digital services and resources, which interact continuously and with a global reach. Especially with the emergence of technologies, such as the semantic web or software agents, intelligent services within these settings can be implemented, automatically communicating and negotiating over the Internet about digital resources without human intervention. Such environments will eventually realize the vision of an open and global Internet of Services (IoS). In this paper we present an agent-based simulation model and toolkit for the IoS: 'SimIS - Simulating an Internet of Services'. Employing SimIS, distributed management mechanisms and protocols can be investigated in a simulated IoS environment before their actual deployment.Multi-Agent Simulation, Internet, Simulation Tools

The Role of Confirmation on IS Continuance Intention in the Context of On-Demand Enterprise Systems in the Post-Acceptance Phase

    Get PDF
The research project examines expectations as well as organizational and technological cognitive beliefs influencing a company’s intention to continue using on-demand enterprise systems in the post-acceptance phase. Expectation-confirmation theory from behavior literature is integrated with Delone & McLean’s model of IS success to theorize a model of IS continuance on company level. The decision making process to continue using an information system in small and middle enterprises as main target customer group of cloud-based enterprise systems is modeled by re-introducing the attitude construct from adoption literature. Additionally, post-purchase expectations are included as influence factor of attitude and intention in the continuance context. To prevent cloud-washing, attention is drawn to the substantive differences between service and application quality of on-demand enterprise systems

USING INSTITUTIONS TO BRIDGE THE TRUST-GAP IN UTILITY COMPUTING MARKETS – AN EXTENDED “TRUST-GAME”

    Get PDF
With the ongoing evolution of the Internet as a trading platform and the corresponding paradigm change from small non-anonymous markets to their large anonymous utility computing pendants, new challenges arise. One of them is the promotion of trust in these new markets as it is an essential prerequisite for bilateral economic exchange [2]. This work tries to meet this challenge by using an evolutionary game-theoretic approach in combination with institutions. Starting from a basic trust game it will show that the introduction of institutions will lead to the crowding in of trustworthy behavior, even if no special detection capabilities are available

Using Reputation Information on Internet-of-Services Markets

    Get PDF
The paper identifies trusting problems between autonomousservices in the Internet-of-Services (IoS). This scenario visiondescribes a general computational paradigm, which allowscompanies to procure computational resources externally. The arising conflicting interests between providersand consumers lead to strategic behaviour of single services.Usually trust and reputation models are proposed to set incentivesfor acting honestly. But when using Double Auctionsto match buyers and sellers, these trust and reputationmodels fail to close this “trusting gap”. This paper proposesa modified Double Auction protocol fulfilling the deductedrequirements. Simulation experiments show that the usageof this modified protocol leads to increased trustworthinessfor the participants
